The Council Has Moved the Pole

Sunday, 14 May 2017

How many times have we heard course setters brief us by saying "the council has moved the pole to the other side of the street"?  Well believe it or not, it does happen!  Last week, our control collector went out next morning, and here is what he found at control no 8 - yes, a brand new pole! Our pole had been dug up overnight, and replaced.  Luckily the old pole was still nearby, and still with the plates attached.  They have now been safely retrieved, from "the other side of the street". Fortunately on the night, everything was in position, thanks to our course setters the Newbury Navigators.

Ten runners on A course "got the lot", led back by Peter H, Tim W, and Bryan.  On B course, Nick notched up another win with 63 points to Ian's 60 and Bruce's 68.  Helen outscored the rest of the power walkers with 56 points, Ron was second also with 56, and Dave one point in arrears.

A1 is still led by Ian, Geoff and Paul, but Tim is starting to make his presence felt. On A2, Hugh and Rick have moved up a place behind Andrew. Roger, Stuart and Hamish lead A3 but Arthur, Lauris and Ken are all looking dangerous. Dale has the lead on A4, with Margi, Richard and Nicole all very close on points.  On B1, Ian extended his lead over Bruce and Jay, but Nick is putting the scores on the board.  Denise moved into third on B2 behind Reg and Greg, while there was no change on B3.

On PW1, Dave is out in front, Len is second, and Mark and Ros are just two points apart.  On PW2, Barry moved into third spot behind Kay and Bernie. Ian S has a good lead on PW3 with Noel and Gwennyth still in the placings.  PW4 saw some changes with Di moving up to second behind Mike, and Barry claiming third.

See you next Wednesday at Camberwell - and don't forget that the following Wednesday is World Orienteering Day - your chance to help break a world record at Mullauna!
