2015 Park & Street Orienteering Championship Finals

Thursday, 26 February 2015

Congratulations to all finalists in the 2015 Champs Finals and in particular to the medallists.  For the third year in a row, Bruce Arthur is the Open Mens Champion with a superb display of Park & Street Orienteering skills. Excellent route choice coupled with superior speed enabled Bruce to take out the gold medal by a comfortable margin over a quality field of Melbourne PAS orienteers. Andrew Hester and Alex Ikin filled the placings.

Also for the third time in a row, Rachael Johnson comfortably won the Open Womens Final with Christine Raviart and Alicia Dymowski taking the minor placings.

Winners of the gold medals in the Mens Age Group Finals were: Geoff McLean (Senior Men), Ian Dodd (Veteran Men) and Rick Bailes (SuperVet Men). Janine Steer won the gold in the Veteran Womens Final.

Three highly talented Junior Park & Street Orienteers contested the Junior Final, with Nick Collins and Lanita Steer taking the gold medals and Oliver Biggar earning a silver medal. All three were highly placed in the overall B Course results.

The Power Walking gold medals went to Steve O'Connell by a point from Mark Hammond in the Mens Open PW Final, and Ron Frederick from Michael Hayward in the Mens SuperVet PW Final.

Jo Torr scored gold in the Womens Open PW Final from Maria Main, and Lyn Green collected gold in the Womens SuperVet PW Final by a point from Sandy Burgoyne.

RESULTS

Thanks to John Meeking, whose course setting tested a range of skills; and to Yarra Valley Orienteering Club for putting on a great event.  Medallions will be presented at the Summer Series awards night on Wednesday March 18.
