Little Forest - State Series no 2

Sunday, 22 March 2015

Victorian orienteers, and some interstaters, got a good hard tune-up for Easter at Little Forest, near Ballan.  The map offered a mix of subtle spur-gully, some gold mining, and some steep sections which tested our early-season fitness.  There was even a knee deep water crossing on the longer courses, a rarity in Victoria in March. Courses were middle distance.

Our Danish guests were out for one last chance to show us how it's done, and Thor Norskov was victorious on M1, with Brodie Nankervis only a minute behind. Tash Key won W1 with a sub-50 minute run, ahead of Laurina Neumann.  M2, over the same length, was won by Tim Hatley, holding off junior trio Peter Collins, Glenn James and Lachlan Cherry.  Lanita Steer was a convincing winner on W2 over Jenny Bourne.  Rob Lewis looked comfortable on M3 ahead of Jimmy Cameron, and Asha Steer had a big margin over her nearest rival Sue Key.

Cormac McCarthy was fastest on M4 with Peter Prime in second.  Kerryn Searle took out W4 from Judi Herkes.  The closest contest was on M5, where Charles Zerafa pipped Peter Yeates by one second!  Helen Alexander won W5 from Dorothy Adrian.  Jensen Key was quickest on M6 ahead of Mason Arthur, and Karina Cherry won W6 from clubmate Caitlyn Steer.  The M7 winner was Solomon Cameron, with Pat Mews first on W7; and Milla Key won W8 by a very close 5 seconds from Charlotte Dalton.

Thanks to MFR for a great event.
