Orienteering Victoria AGM Report

Friday, 29 May 2015

This year's AGM kicked off with a fun, map identification game (with chocolate prizes).  The serious business of the night was attended to with the current Board re-elected unopposed.

A number of annual award presentations were then made-

The Rockhopper Club Trophy was presented to Bendigo Orienteers President, Richard Goonan, who acknowledged the work done by former BG President, Jim Russell.  Bendigo has dominated the Rockhopper Trophy competition over the last few years, maintaining its edge as the leading Victorian club.

The Course Setter of the year was Geoff Lawford for his State Series course at Glenluce.

Event Management of the year award went to Chris Naunton for the Bendigo Night Championships event.  The event was notable in its use of cutting edge technology for event presentation, including the use of video cameras and electronic results displays.

The OV Services Award was presented to the longest serving member of the current Board, Ruth Goddard, who has been the Treasurer now for a decade and was also responsible for the development and oversight of the very successful MelBushO series.

The President's Award was made to Debbie Dodd for her work on just about every OV sub-committee (except for MTBO?) and who is currently helping coordinate all the entry systems for the coming Australian Champs Carnival in Ballarat, using both the Australian and the International (IOF) versions of Eventor.

The evening concluded with a talk from OV member Blair Trewin who is also Orienteering Australia President and a member of the IOF Foot committee.  Blair has competed in orienteering events in about 25 of the 70 or so member countries of the IOF and talked about both the differences and similarities between the sport in different locations.

A very enjoyable evening and thanks to the caterers.
