Rick Bailes is Park Street Course Setter of the Year; Legends Awarded

Rick Bailes has won the much sought after Course Setter of the Year Award, for his top quality courses at Waverley Woods for the final event of the Monday Summer Series.  Adjudicator Mark Besley chose Rick for his well presented map, his array of choices for the first control, and the number of route choices. Others commented it was the best course they’d seen on that map. On the night, it took a long time for people to leave the start as they simply could not make up their minds.  Rick wins a season ticket from Orienteering Victoria (and bragging rights).  Runner up was Ian Greenwood for his courses at Cathies Corner in September 2017.

The Park Street Awards Night wrapped up Summer Series, with Monday and Wednesday series winners and placegetters announced – congratulations all!  The Park Street Championship medallions were presented, and most significantly, another six Legends of the Millennium Club received their certificates and keyrings. Recognised for achieving 1000 Park Street events during the last 12 months were:

Ian Davies, Legend no 43, Dandenong Creek, 12 July 2017

Eric Davidson, Legend no 44, Ringwood Wilds, 23 August 2017
