Vics Fly the Flag at National and State Champs

September 9 and 10 was a huge weekend for orienteering Australia-wide, with State Champs in NSW and SA, and Australian MTBO Champs in Queensland; here at home, our Vic Series was decided.  Many orienteers were also rogaining at Kooyoora.

Our mountain bike riders put on a show, none more so than Maya Bennette, competing in W21 in Sprint, Middle Distance and Long Distance races.  Maya won the Sprint, beating some highly experienced and credentialled riders, to take her first Australian Championship – an absolutely outstanding achievement!  Joining Maya on the podium were:

Mass Start

  • Third – Ricky Thackray, Gavin Bennette, Leigh Privett

Sprint Distance

Middle Distance
